I think we have all visited a Brookstone store at one point or the other. You know you could not resist going in and trying out one of their nifty gadgets- sitting in a massage chair or checking out their cool video eyeglasses.
Let’s talk about sleep. This is something that I get hardly any of. I know that being a parent, it is par for the course that we do not get any sleep. I am up against a husband who needs “background noise” to sleep (aka having the TV on all. night. long.) and a daughter, who just like Daddy, likes noise to sleep. If the noise turns off- either one of both of them are up. Me, on the other hand, I like to pull the covers over my head to escape the darkness and I like silence when I go to bed. I have learned to deal with the background noise, but sometimes when I can’t quiet my brain, I could definitely do without it.

My Experience:
I was very eager to try out this machine and was blessed with the opportunity to review this for Brookstone. I was interested to see whether or not it could help me actually have a good night’s sleep. There are three types of sounds to choose from: Relax, Sleep and Refresh, with four sounds in each category.
Right away, I was compelled to use one of the Sleep sounds (with my choice of white noise, rain, celestial and summer night). It was an absolute no on the white noise right away- to me, it sounded like a tv on a channel that got no signal. So I opted for rain. I have to say that maybe give minutes after my head hit the pillow- I was out like a light. A meteor could have fallen right in my backyard and I probably would not have noticed.
The rain seemed to help Baby C sleep well also. My husband, on the other hand, not so much. He thought the rain setting makes people want to pee, so it was a no-no on that. White noise, again, helped Baby C sleep well. I read somewhere that white noise reminds children of being in the womb- never mind that she has been out of the womb for 15 months. My husband’s favorite sound is summer night, so there really is no happy medium with us regarding using the sound machine. 
I read on Brookstone’s website in a number of reviews, people complained of the light being too bright. I completely disagree. Unless you are some sort of vampire and the light is like cryptonite to you. The light is not very bright at all, it didn’t illuminate on our walls or anything.
Hubby’s Wish List:
My husband mentioned that he wished there were more sound options on the Sleep Sound Therapy System. He feels that many of the sounds in the Relax category sound the same and you cannot distinguish between one or the other. I guess in order to do that, Brookstone would have to make the circles with the names of the sounds smaller. Otherwise, the unit would have to get bigger and I don’t think that would work (making the unit larger than it currently is).
